After Nottingham Forest was denied three obvious penalty shouts during their 2-0 loss to Everton, the relegation battlers made a<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/var-luton-fan-nottingham-forest-extraordinary-statement-three-penalty-shouts-denied-premier-league-defeat-everton/bltbc5231c8bb298dcd" target="_blank"> scathing post on X attacking the level of refereeing in the Premier League</a> and the supposed biased refereeing during the clash. Watt, an NFL star, echoed the Tricky Reds' sentiments in a post on X as he admitted he would post the same thing in that situation if Burnley faced similar officiating.Commenting under Nottingham's X post, <a href="https://twitter.com/JJWatt/status/1782068412920864901" target="_blank">Watt said</a>: "This is about what it might look like if I took over control of our official club account."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Watts is not a newbie to the criticism of Premier League referees and has himself <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/everybody-hates-var-nfl-legend-burnley-co-owner-jj-watt-premier-league-fix-trash-system/blt794622e74553c4f5#cscd4360eafeb2ca6c" target="_blank">complained multiple times</a> as he believes that a lot of decisions have gone against Burnley this season.<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/jj-watt-hits-out-at-premier-league-refereeing-decisions-as-burnley-battle-relegation/blt8e070b8eb7e223d9#csf9d7ed891710d56a" target="_blank">During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Watt said</a>: "As a small club, with some of those things you don’t have a voice necessarily, you don’t have the ability to speak up. I’m happy to be that voice because I do know what it feels like to be a fan and literally an owner in those situations. This season it does seem oddly stacked up in a certain way and you start to get those official apology letters multiple times and you’re like: ‘Okay, how many times do we get these letters before we take a look at this whole thing here?'"

The NFL veteran is now one of several well-known investors in British football clubs, joining fellow American football legend Tom Brady, a board member at Birmingham, and Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney who are now co-owners at Wrexham.
