Chilwell’s diminished role has not gone unnoticed. Chilwell has been linked with a potential switch to Fenerbahce, managed by the legendary Mourinho. The Turkish club require reinforcements following the departure of their versatile international Ferdi Kadioglu to Brighton &amp; Hove Albion in late August. However, whether Chilwell would be interested in a move to the Turkish Super Lig remains to be seen.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

A loan move without an option to buy seems the most plausible scenario at this stage, especially given Chilwell's significant weekly wages, reported to be over £200,000. This high salary has complicated matters for many potential suitors which might force Chilwell to spend the season at Stamford Bridge despite not being one of the preferred options of Maresca. Indeed, he is reportedly content to stay at Chelsea unless the right opportunity presents itself.
