<p>The Bavarian giants reclaimed the Bundesliga title in the 2024-25 season but remain eager to strengthen their squad over the summer. Bayern had been keen on Florian Wirtz but look set to miss out on the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/liverpool-confident-wrapping-up-florian-wirtz-transfer-contract-done-bayer-leverkusen-sensation-desire/blt5f6033e67afbd84f" target="_blank">Bayer Leverkusen star to Liverpool</a>. Vincent Kompany's side have therefore now turned their attention to Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, according to reporter <a href="https://cfbayerninsider.com/2025/05/bayern-munich-liverpool-premier-league-cody-gakpo/" target="_blank">Christian Falk</a>.</p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Gakpo's versatility makes him an attractive proposition as he can play on the left or as a back-up to top scorer Harry Kane. According to Falk, Bayern are also looking at Rafael Leao and Karou Mitoma who are considered more "realistic targets" than Gakpo at present. Bayern would have to sell out around €50 million (£42m) to land Gakpo, per <a href="https://sport.sky.de/fussball/artikel/nach-mitoma-und-leao-eberl-auch-an-liverpool-star-dran/13374995/35313" target="_blank">Sky Sport Germany</a>.</p>
