<p><a href="https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/44706992/neymar-injury-substitution-santos-brazil" target="_blank">ESPN</a> reports that the 33-year-old picked up a left thigh injury after just 34 minutes and had to be withdrawn from Wednesday night's Serie A game. The former Barcelona man had only <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-sends-defiant-message-brazilian-superstar-shares-fitness-update-santos-return-from-injury/blt2a2f5b3aa6130556" target="_blank">returned from an issue</a> in the same area as a substitute against Fluminense last weekend. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Neymar, who began the game with both legs visibly strapped, was wearing a special number 100 shirt to commemorate his 100th appearance at Vila Belmiro - Santos' stadium. The former Al-Hilal man has had an <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/doctors-warned-neymar-update-injury-al-hilal-return-acl/blt3c34165406afe597" target="_blank">injury-hit couple of years</a> so this latest setback is a real blow. </p>
