<p>Last weekend's <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/madrid-derby-suspended-as-atletico-fans-throw-objects-onto-pitch-diego-simeone-koke/bltb91b15b43a28e3c6" target="_blank">La Liga clash with Los Blancos was stopped for around 20 minutes</a> in the second half after Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois complained that home fans were throwing objects onto the field. Supporters then ignored appeals when asked to desist over the stadium loudspeakers, with the game then being stopped. Now, <a href="https://www.insideworldfootball.com/2024/10/04/rfef-sanctions-atletico-partial-stand-closure-e50k-fine-madrid-derby-chaos/" target="_blank">The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)</a> have slapped Diego Simeone's team with a $50,000 fine and ruled they must close the lower south section of the Metropolitano Stadium - where the incidents occurred - for their next three home fixtures.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The RFEF have since described what happened on that day as “absolutely unacceptable and did not accept Atletico’s allegations concerning previous acts which in no way would be capable of justifying the events that followed.”</p>

<p>According to reports, Atletico, who sit fourth in La Liga in an unbeaten start to the season, have said they have already identified one supporter over this matter and subsequently banned them.</p>
