Arsenal have already been looking to add numbers to their midfield this summer and <a href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2024/07/exclusive-arsenal-transfer-euro-2024-fabian-ruiz-psg" target="_blank">Duncan Castles reports that the Gunners have begun talks with Luis Enrique's PSG</a> regarding a move.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Castles has labelled Ruiz as an 'obvious fit' to Mikel Arteta's side thanks to his hardworking qualities. The Spaniard won the most possession at the Euros and twice as much as any other player in the final third of the field. Following the departure of Mohammed Elneny and the potential departures of Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe, Arsenal will be looking to sign another midfielder and have also been linked with a move for Real Sociedad's Mikel Merino.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

As per the report, Arsenal do not have the finances to facilitate the purchase of Ruiz this summer and will instead have to strike a similar deal with PSG as they did <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/arsenal-complete-gbp30m-david-raya-signing-gunners-confirm-permanent-transfer-brentford-star-mikel-arteta-secures-reigning-premier-league-golden-glove-winner/blt372eabe319d6519b" target="_blank">with Brentford for David Raya last summer</a>. The Gunners may offer a loan deal to the Ligue 1 side for the Spaniard with an obligation to buy in the summer of 2025.
