<p>Cunha was the subject of January interest from Arsenal but he eventually signed a new contract at Wolves, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/mar/30/matheus-cunha-all-we-want-in-life-is-affection-wolves-gave-me-back-that-joy" target="_blank">although his deal is reported to contain a release clause worth £62 million </a>($80m). That has alerted clubs such as the Gunners, Liverpool and Chelsea to his availability, and he has now claimed he is ready to move in the summer. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Wolves were deep in relegation trouble during the January window, but they are now 17th and are nine points clear of Ipswich Town in 18th. It would take a remarkable collapse for them to be relegated; Cunha is keeping them afloat, scoring 13 league goals in 26 games. </p>

<p>Speaking to <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/mar/30/matheus-cunha-all-we-want-in-life-is-affection-wolves-gave-me-back-that-joy" target="_blank">The Guardian</a>, Cunha said: “I had a lot of offers, but I wouldn’t feel well if I had done it. Some things you can’t contro,l but I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone. </p><p>“Now, we’re close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”</p>

WHAT CUNHA SAID

<p>Wolves play West Ham on Tuesday. It remains to be seen where Cunha will move in the summer, but it seems he won't stay for long at Molineux. </p>
