WHAT HAPPENED?

The former full-back said on Amazon Prime: "It depends on the style of the goalkeeper. If you had Thibaut Courtois, he would have come to that ball [to stop Aston Villa’s first goal]. I played with Edwin van der Sar, I played with David de Gea. They never would have come out like that. People can point and say it’s a goalkeeper error. But I think it’s just the type of goalkeeper."

WHAT EVRA SAID

Before the free-kick that gave Aston Villa the lead at Old Trafford, winger Leon Bailey stood beside Onana and attempted to put him off. Shortly after that goal, the away team struck again through Leander Dendoncker, but United managed to pull off a comeback in the second half as Alejandro Garnacho scored twice and Rasmus Hojlund struck in the 82nd minute to secure a 3-2 win for Erik ten Hag's team.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

After securing their first win in five matches, United will look to make it two in a row when they meet Nottingham Forest in their last game of 2023 on December 30. Forest approach the game off the back of a 3-1 victory against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
