Ramsdale is on the verge of departing north London after his current employers <a href="https://x.com/SkySportsLyall/status/1828865724674179222" target="_blank">agreed a deal with Southampton</a> worth an initial £18 million ($24m) that could rise to £25m ($33m). The Gunners stopper has been linked with a move away from the Emirates since being relegated to second-choice goalkeeper following the arrival of David Raya last summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/aaron-ramsdale-arsenal-transfer-route-premier-league/blt7800223a0ef8a26f" target="_blank">26-year-old's exit</a> has been a long time coming and the change is needed if Ramsdale is to keep himself in the frame for a spot in the England squad. He sat on the bench for the Three Lions during Euro 2024 but will fancy himself to cause a headache for interim boss Lee Carsley with some regular game time for Southampton. The deal also allows Arsenal to push forward in<a href="https://www.relevo.com/futbol/liga-primera/avecina-venta-record-arsenal-libre-20240828213020-nt.html" target="_blank"> signing Joan Garcia</a> as his replacement. Mikel Arteta is keen to get a €30million (£25m/$33m) over the line before the transfer deadline.

Ramsdale's last Premier League appearance came in March, in a 2-1 victory over Brentford. It was one of six outings he made in the top flight, but his only one so far in 2024.
