He received well-wishes from across the footballing world, with Toni Kroos, Rodrygo and others offering support.</p>

<p>Ramos, now of Sevilla, was the latest player to speak up, posting on Instagram: "Good luck, David. I'm sure you'll come back with more strength to give it all on the pitch my friend. WHAT SERGIO RAMOS SAID

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/sergio-ramos-comparisons-dont-bother-me---alaba/1qq0s20of1e2a1x6e1rg3ygrtp" target="_blank">Alaba replaced Ramos at Madrid in 2021</a>, when the latter left the Spanish capital to join Paris Saint-Germain. Ramos has since moved to boyhood club Sevilla.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The centre-back is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, and will start a lengthy rehab process. He is expected to return in around eight months.</p>
