2024 NWSL schedule: USWNT star Sophia Smith and the Portland Thorns visit KC Current's brand-new CPKC Stadium to open campaign

WHAT HAPPENED?

Both new expansion sides, Bay FC and Utah Royals, will also make their club debuts on the 16th. With the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/nwsl-announces-groundbreaking-media-partnership-espn-cbs-sports-prime-video-scripps-sports/blt919d8fcdedd539eb" target="_blank">new NWSL media deal,</a> which will see Amazon, ESPN/ABC, and Scripps Sports/Ion stream matches, will show matches on all three days and nights of the weekend.What's more, though, is that NWSL has shared new details about a free streaming platform titled: NWSL+. The platform will be available in IOS and Andriod devices, while also being an app available on AppleTV, FireTV and Roku devices. Numerous regular season matches, 'secret replays' and more will be streamed for free.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Gotham FC won the 2023 NWSL Championship over OL Reign, with the Bats claiming victory via a 2-1 scoreline. They will be out to repeat the feat in 2024/25.
